Scarecrow Competition

Upton Village Fete 2025Scarecrow Competition 2025

As part of the Upton Fete taking place on Saturday 12th July 2025,we are running a Scarecrow Competition.

We invite you to review the entries and mark them against each other so we can rank them 1st, 2nd and 3rd and announce the winners at the fete and award Rosettes.

The entrants have been asked to produce a Scarecrow to the theme of ‘Disney Characters’ and to display them at their homes / a location as noted on the map.

We invite you pick up a score sheet from the X Keys (we hope to be ready to open marking from lunchtime on Saturday 5th July) and ask you to walk the village in the week before the Fete andreview each one and mark your selection on the sheet below.

When looking at the Scarecrows we suggest you start by awarding the first Scarecrow a score which means you can always give a higher score to one of the ones which follows which you deem better. So don’t award the first Scarecrow 10, as the next one might be better. The actual score is not important it’s just a way of you marking each one against the others. At the end after reviewing all Scarecrows you can then rank them 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Comment - What should you be looking for? We are hoping you will recognise the effort that has gone in to producing the Scarecrow, does it look like the character it is supposed to represent, extra effort deserves more point. If it’s just a dummy / mask / manakin from Amazon, then it perhaps should not rank as high as one where time has been taken to produce and its elaborate etc.

Please be careful as you walk the village of our very busy road.

Please put your completed forms in the post box at the X Keys.

Happy that everyone takes part, even those entering. BUT- If you mark your own as 1st, 2nd or 3rd you will be put in the gallows at the fete and stoned with wet sponges. ðŸ˜Š

Thanks for taking part, we hope you enjoy the experience.
